OUR HISTORY

heritage, courage passion, time

Arnaldo Crociani

Arnaldo Crociani, my father, liked to joke that he was born behind a barrel. Certainly his stubbornness, foresight and passion ensured that his youthful dreams of making wine came true.

I carefully preserve his first bottles from vintage 1955. There is one bottle that is more precious than any other. It is a bottle of 1964 Vin Santo that my father gave me on my 10th birthday.

It bears the hand-written words: “Unico esemplare per Susi”.

In that sentence lies the inevitability of my choice. When my father died, I turned my life upside down and returned to Montepulciano to help my brother Giorgio with the winery.

Giorgio had always worked with our father in the winery but above all he dedicated was dedicated to the promotion and marketing of our wines.

He was tireless, cheerful and good; a truly special person. I always think about all the things we could have done, all the laughter we could have had, had we had more time together.

This is my little “World of Wine”: here the wine rests, cradled in 15/20hl Slavonian oak barrels. This is where we organize visits and tastings.

In 2011 I purchased part of an old tobacco factory from the early 1900s. It is a large and bright environment, more suited to some of the cellar operations.

This is where we vinify our wines and where we have the “Vinsantaia” and a space dedicated to the history of the cellar; a few library bottles that tell our story.
