When you have the great fortune to be born amongst barrels and vineyards, sooner or later you will
succumb to their charms. After a career in the Italian music industry, I returned to my origins to follow in the footsteps of my father Arnaldo and my brother Giorgio at our family winery in Montepulciano.
Willful by nature, I went from being practically abstemious to making wine “the way I like it.” My stewardship of the property heralded greater entrepreneurial dynamism, an openness to
international markets and the use of more modern technologies in the cellar and vineyards.
Our greatest asset are the 10 hectares (25 acres) of vineyards located in the very heart of the Vino Nobile area. Our wines are only made from the traditional grapes of this terroir: Sangiovese (locally known as Prugnolo Gentile), Mammolo (a rare and ancient variety that gives very characteristic aromas) and Canaiolo Nero. Vinification takes place in our new cellar. The wine is aged in 15 and 20 HL barrels in our fourteenth-century cellars, right in the historic centre of Montepulciano.
These days, bottles of Crociani Vino Nobile di Montepulciano travel the world and are served in the best of restaurants. The winery’s story has become my story; one in which many lives, paths and plots combine. The dominating theme is, undoubtedly, love.
